China Eastern Airlines has become the latest Boeing 737 Max customer to seek compensation from the plane maker.
One of China’s largest airlines, China Eastern has officially made a request for compensation.
It hasn’t publically disclosed how much compensation it is seeking.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China was quick to ground all Max jets in March following the second fatal crash of the new aircraft in Africa.
Up until the grounding, China Eastern had operated 14 Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
The grounding ‘has relatively big losses,’ it said, state-run media reported.
"With the passing of time, related losses will further expand. At the same time delayed deliveries of planes ordered by China Eastern also caused economic losses."
Boeing has completed a software fix for the MCAS anti-stall system linked to the two crashes and awaits a potentially lengthy auditing process from the US federal Aviation Administration and other global regulators.
