Comtec acquires web-design company

Friday, 27 June 20083 min read

Travel technology company Comtec has made its first acquisition since the management buy-out with the purchase of travel web-design agency Jamber.

The move, says the new owners led by RJD Partners, is the start of a spree that will be funded by an acquisition fund for future growth and expansion in “complementary business sectors”.

Comtec sees Jamber, which has already done some projects for the company, as helping it to offer a more rounded, holistic e-commerce design and development service.

Jamber’s clients include Thomas Cook, Harvey World Travel, United Co-op and Hilton International.

Comtec CEO Simon Powell said: “Jamber is a well-established specialist web-design agency, with an impressive portfolio of travel and leisure-focused clients and a reputation for delivering engaging, effective and accessible websites.

“Many of Comtec’s ecommerce clients require web-design services and it makes sense for us to offer a complete, integrated, design and delivery programme to clients requiring an expert one-stop service.

“Having in-house design specialists will also enable us to have better control over the ongoing development of our travel agent and tour operator web-based selling systems.”
