The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has reissued its warning about Zika cases in Jamaica just 24 hours after an earlier alert was dropped.
The unexplained move came as two cases of Zika were confirmed in Ireland, the first cases in Europe.
According to latest reports, a rare case of the virus being sexually-transmitted has also been reported in Dallas, Texas,
Cases of the Zika virus have already been confirmed in several countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Cape Verde, including Barbados, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
UK tour operators including Thomas Cook, Thomson and First Choice are giving pregnant women due to travel to any affected countries, including Jamaica, the option to switch to other destinations free of charge.
Although the virus generally only causes mild symptoms in adults, it has been linked to abnormalities in unborn children.
The FCO’s travel advice for Jamaica now says: "You should follow the advice of the National Travel Health Network and Centre, particularly if you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and seek advice from a health professional."
