Couple found dead on HAL cruise ship
Two passengers have been discovered dead inside their stateroom on a Holland America cruise ship as it docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The couple, who have yet to be officially identified, are in their 50’s and from Cleveland, Ohio, officials said.
Police Sgt. Ricardo Cruz said blood was found inside the cabin.
"We don’t know yet whether an object was used or what the motive was," he said.
Murder-suicide has not been ruled out with news reports suggesting this is the most likely cause.
The two bodies were discovered when crew checked in on the couple after not seeing them for some time.
"We are terribly saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these guests at this difficult time, " HAL said in a statement.
The 1,800-passenger ms Ryndam is due to call at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands later today, part of a two week cruise to the Southern Caribbean.
