Cruise lines looking at shorter trips

Wednesday, 22 August 20073 min read

Do cruisers want shorter trips? Carnival Cruise Lines thinks so and as a result, it is extending its short offerings from Miami next fall, with year-round three-and-four-day trips.

“Additionally, the Carnival Destiny will be the industry’s only 100,000-plus-ton-cruise ship to offer year-round four-and five-day cruises when it launches this program from Miami Sept. 27, 2008,” the cruise line says.

This 101,353-ton ship will also offer four-day weekend cruises and five-day trips to several destinations.

“Plus, the Carnival Destiny will offer a wide selection of affordable balcony staterooms — a feature not widely available on other ships in the short cruise market,” according to the cruise line.

Carnival’s popular three- to five-day cruise programs comprise roughly half of the line’s departures. Carnival possibly has more three- to five-day vacations than any other line, with 25 different itineraries departing from 10 different US homeports.
