China’s largest online travel company Ctrip plans to open a Southeast Asian regional headquarters in Singapore in a push to increase market share beyond China.
According to a China Daily report Ctrip will open a data centre and international financial settlement and investment centre in Singapore.
"The Southeast Asian market is an important part of Ctrip’s international expansion. Relying on Singapore’s port advantage and economic status in the region, Ctrip can provide enterprises and individuals throughout the region with its robust travel product offerings," Ctrip CEO James Liang said at a media briefing in Beijing last week.
Liang said Ctrip will beef up local partnerships and increase the range of travel products it offers in Singapore and throughout Southeast Asia.
Ctrip leads market share in the online travel market in China and has a valuation of about $10.6 billion.
