Delta has now banned 460 customers for refusing to wear a mask

Delta Air Lines’ mask blacklist has now grown to 460.

That is the number of customers now on the airline’s no-fly list for refusing to wear a face mask in the cabin.

The number was revealed in an internal memo sent from CEO Ed Bastian.

The airline has required passengers to wear masks since May but has experienced several incidents of non-compliance.

Last week a flight from Detroit to Las Vegas was held up for 90 minutes because a passenger refused to wear a mask and a few days earlier a Delta flight attendant was attacked by a passenger not wearing a mask.

"Wearing a mask is among the simplest and most effective actions we can take to reduce transmission, which is why Delta has long required them for our customers and our people," Bastian wrote.

"As of this week, we’ve added 460 people to our no-fly list for refusing to comply with our mask requirement."

All airlines require everyone, except small children, to wear masks when not eating throughout a flight.

"We remind them several times during the preparation for take-off to wear that mask but if they insist not to wear it – we insist they won’t be traveling with Delta," Bastian added.

Delta recently issued new rules that all passengers who claim they cannot wear a face mask due to health issues must undergo a screening by telephone with a medical professional before being allowed to fly.
