Doomed Doncaster Sheffield Airport gets a lifeline
Shuttered Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been given a possible lifeline.
Doncaster Council has agreed to fund £3.1m.
This money will go toward legal costs for a compulsory purchase order.
However, the CPO remains a Plan B.
It would only be in effect if all other options fail.
These are a sale or lease of the airport.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport was closed in late 2022 by its owners Peel L&P.
The council is also itself considering leasing the site.
“City of Doncaster Council has now sent that document to Peel for consideration.”
“We understand there are still conversations between interested parties in a potential purchase of the site from Peel,” the council added.
