Six months after the tragic accident at one of its theme parks, Ardent Leisure CEO Deborah Thomas is being replaced.
It is effectively a demotion for Thomas who will become chief customer officer and chief operating officer (Australasia).
It comes six months after a deadly accident on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld theme park killed four riders.
The company has been in the doldrums ever since although Ardent’s share price rose slightly on the news.
It lost an estimated $10 million due to a six-week closure immediately following the accident.
"During Deborah’s leadership our company has experienced an unprecedented level of reorientation and change and has positioned itself strongly for solid future growth,’ Ardent Leisure chairman George Venardos said.
Thomas will be replaced by Simon Kelly, who was previously finance chief at Nine Entertainment.
