EasyJet issues quarterly trading update

EasyJet‘s first quarter results improved as demand for package holidays continued, alongside better cost control and lower fuel prices, the group says.

It took delivery of six new A320neo family aircraft in the quarter, and a seventh aircraft was delivered in January.

Another two are expected to be operational by peak summer.

EasyJet says the traditionally busy Easter period is seeing strong demand and bookings continue to build for summer 2025.

At this early stage of the year, the current booking trends meet its FY25 estimate.

It expects to meet its existing target of over £1 billion of profit before tax.

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, said: “EasyJet performed well in the quarter reducing Q1 losses by 52% year on year while flying 7% more customers.”

“Looking to this summer, we have seen continuing demand for easyJet’s flights and holidays where we have one million more customers already booked.”

There is high demand for Palma, Faro and Alicante as well as new destinations like Tunisia and Cairo proving popular.

The airline also updated on its sustainability progress.

In the first quarter of FY25 it signs agreements with Enlive and Moeve for the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) covering material requirements in Italy and Spain over the next five years.

In addition, it signed a tri-party MoU with Renavia and World Fuel Services giving easyJet access to advanced Bio and eSAF from 2030.
