Emirates adding another US route at Fort Lauderdale

Gulf carrier Emirates has announced the launch of its 11th US route with daily flights from Dubai to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International later this year.
The service will begin on December 15 on three-class Boeing 777-200LR aircraft
"We anticipate our service will contribute to the economy of South Florida by bringing new travelers to the area from across our route network, at the same time offering greater competitive choice for consumers and new one-stop passenger and air cargo connectivity for the region to the global destinations that we serve," said Sir Tim Clark, Emirates president.
"We launched our non-stop Dubai-Orlando service roughly a year ago and its strong performance encouraged us to select Fort Lauderdale."
The service has also been hailed by the US Travel Association, a vocal critic against US airlines’ opposition to Gulf carrier expansion in the US.
"When international airlines open new routes to US airports, providing supply where there is previously unmet demand, both flyers and local economies benefit," said US Travel Association CEO Roger Dow.
Emirates also has a codeshare agreement with JetBlue for onward connection throughout the US and Caribbean.
FLL is one of JetBlue’s focus cities and the airline has a 24% share of passenger traffic at the airport.
