England set to scrap pre-departure tests
The need to take a Covid pre-departure test ahead of arriving in England could be scrapped as part of this week’s review of Plan B protocols. Due to the surge in Covid cases and dominance of the Omicron variant, officials argue pre-arrival testing is ‘effectively redundant.’
"Now that Omicron is dominant in the UK and everywhere it reduces the argument for having it. We have other ways of slowing the spread through domestic testing," a government official told The Times.
