Eurocamp dumps agents
Eurocamp is to stop selling via high street travel agencies following a strategic review of its distribution channels.
The holiday specialist says the success of its investment in online platforms combined with ongoing natural consumer shifts to these channels has resulted in it deciding to reconsider its presence within the UK travel trade in favour of direct channels.
Formal notice has already been sent to its retail partners, in line with all commercial agreements, it said.
"All existing booking will be honoured and all terms and conditions for any changes to bookings will remain in place for bookings already made by agents," added the camping specialist in a statement.
As a result of this decision, two employees from its trade sales team will be made redundant.
Eurocamp chief operating officer Stijn Depraetere said: "We haven’t taken this decision lightly and we recognise the contribution and high levels of service delivered by the trade, and would like to thank everyone for their contribution".
A spokesman said Eurocamp worked with most UK travel agents, but they represent only 3% of its bookings.
