Extended stay hotel doubles as apartment
The St. Louis area’s first and only mixed use apartment-hotel-extended stay suite sometimes pays agents as much as 15% commisions, but its payment strcuture is less important than other goals.
Said Micarl Hill, general manager of Clayton on the Park:
“Our goal is not so much to offer higher commsions, but to make sure our rooms are spotlessly clean, our service is at a high level, and that agents know their clients want to make return visits, ” he said.
The hotel-extended stay part of the hotel is so popular the building’s owners recently converted the 11th floor from apartments to suites.
The so-called Preferred Zone rooms have amenities such as 42-inch LG wall-mounted Plasma flat screen TV.
Mr Hill said travel agent bookings for the hotel popular with business travelers have been on the rise.
The hotel is somewhat unusual in that it has a residential feel and touches not found in many hotel rooms. All suites, for example, have fully equipped eat-in kitchens with built-in wine racks. Dining alcoves have floor-to-ceiling windows.
The 23-story residential high-rise is in a central downtown location. It’s a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
