FAA outage; All US flights grounded
There are grounded flights right across the US this morning due to a Federal Aviation Administration technical outage.
It affects the entire national network.
The FAA said it had suffered a computer outage.
The agency placed a groundstop on all domestic flights until at least 9 a.m. ET.
The outage relates to the Notice to Air Missions system (NOTAM).
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg tweeted; “FAA is working to resolve this issue swiftly and safely.”
“We are performing final validation checks,” the FAA said.
Over 1,200 flights within, into and out of the US were delayed by early Wednesday with about 100 cancelled.
The government said there is no evidence yet of a targeted cyberattack
President Biden ordered the Department of Transportation to conduct an investigation into the cause.
United Airlines said it ‘temporarily delayed all domestic flights and will issue an update when we learn more from the FAA.’
“We are closely monitoring the situationand working with the FAA,” American Airlines said.
