FAA probing iPhone mid-flight fire

Tuesday, 22 March 20163 min read
The Federal Aviation Administration says it is investigating after an Alaska Airlines passenger’s phone suddenly burst into flames on a flight last week.
Teen Anna Crail was en route to Hawaii for spring break when eight-inch flames began shooting out of her iPhone 6, she told KOMO-TV in Seattle.
A FAA spokesman said there were no injuries or damage to the plane, which had departed Bellingham, Washington.
The flight with 163 passengers aboard was over the Pacific Ocean 90 minutes away from Hawaii when the phone caught fire.
An Alaska Air spokesman said the flames were quickly extinguished by flight crew and it is also holding its own investigation into the incident.
