Friday, 29 April 20163 min read
The Federal Aviation Administration moved forward a planned operational review of low fare carrier Allegiant due to ‘various internal issues’ over maintenance.
Full FAA reviews are normally scheduled every five years but the FAA said it brought it forward by two years in light of a series of maintenance and safety incidents..
The review began earlier this month and will continue through June.
The Las Vegas based airline has been plagued with a number of malfunctions causing delays or emergency landings
Earlier this year the airline said it was working hard to fix ‘operational challenges’ which have included instances of smoke emission in the cabin and pressurization problems.
A union backed report cited ‘at least 98 separate and preventable maintenance issues.’
The report said there were ’35 engine issues such as failures to start, clogged filters and two instances of catastrophic engine failures in which engines came apart.’
