Fair Trade in Tourism trademark launches in SA
The launch of the Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) trademark in Pretoria on Thursday (June 13) will give a considerable boost to fair business practices and responsible tourism development in the country, says national co-ordinator of the organisation, Jennifer Seif.
FTTSA is a non-profit marketing organisation under the auspices of the IUCN (The World Conservation Union) South Africa that strives to secure market access and economic benefits for tourism enterprises from disadvantaged communities.
Seif says the organisation in particular seeks to protect emerging tourism entrepreneurs from exploitation and to contribute to a vibrant tourism industry that grows, thrives and is sustainable for the economic benefit of all South Africans.
“The registered FTTSA trademark will be awarded to tourism businesses that comply with the Fair Trade criteria and we foresee that it will become a valuable marketing tool for tourism businesses in South Africa,” added Seif.
For further information on FTTSA or to attend the launch of the trademark, call Beverley Opperman on (012) 322 2106.
