Fall festivities in the Finger Lakes
Autumn is the ideal time to explore the New York countryside.
Experience festivals that center around the Finger Lakes region’s famous crops such as the Naples Grape Festival with its grape pie contest or the Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival featuring local vendors selling ciders and cider donuts.
The Great Cortland Pumpkinfest is not to be missed, where participants will complete the race with pumpkin-in-hand.

In Wayne County, NY throughout the month of October, visitors can sample one of the region’s best produce selections in the annual Apple Tasting Tour.
Cohocton’s Fall Foliage Festival features a parade, wine tasting, an antique snowmobile show and much more.
Visitors can enjoy Livonia Autumn in the Village, with a huge craft market, Cornhole tournament and a float contest with an ‘any holiday’ theme.
For vineyard harvest fun, celebrate with Hosmer Winery during their Harvest Festival, which features live music, BBQ and local craft beverage tastings
Halloween
The best Halloween attractions for family-friendly travelers can be found in the Finger Lakes area during October. Kids will love a day spent at Iron Kettle Farm during their Spooktacular event with a haunted barn, tire mountain, barnyard ball, corn maze and hayrides.
Bath, NY, will host its Trunk or Treat, where decorated cars will line up and hand out candy for trick-or-treating. Visit the Tanglewood Nature Center for their Haunted Happenings including pumpkin or face painting, a chili cook-off and Halloween games.
The Ward O’Hara Agricultural and Country Living Museum has its Old Fashion Halloween with horse and carriage rides, blacksmith demonstrations and a costume parade. View over 400 hand-crafted jack-o-lanterns all along forest trails and wild bird presentations at the Enchanted Beaver Lake.
For a perfect mix of eerie fun and historical entertainment, the Days of Incandescence in Corning, NY helps visitors learn about how Thomas Edison magically lit up a town street with his spectacular invention in a multi-day festival. It includes historic walking tours, cemetery tours, live performances, a pumpkin carving contest and a street market.

The Finger Lakes region is host to a wide range of other events this season.
The Rochester Fringe Festival promises jaw-dropping performances in the state’s largest multidisciplinary artistic event of the year. The Finger Lakes Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival features a lineup of balloons taking flight, live music and a classic car show. Witness the seaplane homecoming on Keuka Lake during the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum’s Wings and Wheels seaplane and car show.
The 2nd Annual Duck and Red Octopus event takes place in Cortland, where celebrity judges weigh the works of artists’ short animations. The Purple Painted Lady Festival will return after a year’s hiatus with over 200 artists, live music, food trucks and more.
