At least five passengers were injured during the emergency evacuation of a US-bound Delta Air Lines flight.
A problem with one of the engines forced the A330 to return to Lagos in Nigeria shortly after take-off, and passengers used the emergency slides to evacuate the aircraft at Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
Unconfirmed reports by local media suggest there was an engine fire. Delta said five passengers reported non-serious injuries during the evacuation.
"Delta flight 55 to Atlanta returned to Lagos after an issue with one of the A330-200’s two engines. The safety of Delta’s customers and crew members is always our top priority," it said in a statement.
"The flight landed safely and customers exited the aircraft on the runway via emergency slides."
All passengers were accommodated overnight and were expected to return to the US today.
