Flybmi joins GTMC
The GTMC has welcomed its newest industry partner, flybmi.
The association said flybmi’s strategy reaffirms the GTMC’s goal to increase investment focus and develop regional airports beyond Heathrow and the southeast.
The airline’s recent announcement to increase rotations out of Aberdeen airport to include Sunday flights to Bristol and Oslo is welcomed by the GTMC, which is keen to bolster support for regional infrastructure and ground transportation around regional airports.
GTMC chief executive Adrian Parkes said: "It’s easy to understand why flybmi has long been a favourite amongst business travellers as it offers flights to key European locations on Sundays allowing executive travellers to schedule their meetings from Monday morning onwards.
"We look forward to combining our efforts and in lobbying for greater investment in the UK’s regional airports and transport infrastructure to further enable business travel."
Flybmi chief commercial officer Jochen Schnadt said: "With business travellers being a key focus area for flybmi, it is important to us to maintain strong relations with key partners in the travel management trade and with this objective in mind, partnering with the GTMC is a logical step for flybmi and we expect this partnership to deliver multiple mutual benefits.
"Flybmi already has a strong presence in the business travel sector and this partnership will enable us to have a greater voice in this very competitive market."
Flybmi flies to 43 destinations in 10 European countries from regional airports such as Bristol, Aberdeen, Newcastle and East Midlands.
From today, October 1, Turkish Airlines and flybmi are partnering in a new codeshare agreement.
