A former mayor of Honolulu has been named new CEO of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association.

This is a familiar role for Mufi Hannemann who previously served as president and then CEO of the Association between 2011 and 2012.

Hannemann, who takes over on July 20, replaces George Szigeti who left last month to assume the role as president of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

Kelly Hoen, chair of the Association’s board of directors said Hannemann was chosen for hs wide experience and leadership qualities.

He previously served as Honolulu Mayor from 2005-2010 and ran for Governor last year.
