Four more Brits on Diamond Princess test positive for coronavirus

Four of the British Diamond Princess passengers who were flown home on a rescue flight on Saturday have tested positive for the coronavirus and have been transferred to specialist NHS infection centres.

They were among 30 Brits and two Irish citizens who returned to the UK after spending more than two weeks on the quarantined ship.

They are now spending another 14 days quarantined at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral.

Questions are now being asked about the decision to keep thousands of passengers and crew confined on the cruise ship.

More than one in five of the 3,700 on board the ship have now tested positive and two Japanese guests have died.

Conditions were described as ‘completely chaotic’ by a Japanese infectious diseases expert who assisted with the quarantine.

Four other British passengers remain in hospital in Japan.

The Foreign Office said it was continuing to support those who remain in Japan after the recent evacuation flight.
