Frommer looks at 2004

Wednesday, 14 January 20043 min read

Americans getting smarter about off-season European visits are turning more to cheaper, often more interesting alternatives such as small family-run bed-and-breakfasts or agritourism farm stays. So says travel guru Arthur Frommer in an article published in the Chicago Tribune that takes a look at the travel outlook for 2004. While there is more travel overall than ever, Mr Frommer does not see any increase in travel to Asia or Africa. Americans will prefer going to places where the dollar is strong right now such as South America, and particularly Argentina and Brazil, he predicted. Adventure travel may be taming down, he suggested. On the airline front, he believes there will be even more no-frills/low-cost moves, with continued turbulence in the industry as a whole. He predicts air fares will rise as business travel picks up.
