GBTA members see business travel return
Business travel bookings are almost back to last year’s levels according to figures released by the Guild of Business Travel Agents.
According to the GBTA average booking levels in February were just 2% down on the same month last year. However revenues showed more of a decline – down by 6%.
Among those members surveyed, 40% had seen an increase in bookings year on year, while 25% had also seen revenue growth.
Chairman Charles Sommer said: “Clearly the average market trend shows that business travel is largely restored to its former volumes though yields are inevitably down because of the widespread reduced fare inducements in the marketplace.”
The Guild of Business Travel Agents has 35 members with a collective turnover totalling £6.9 billion. According to the GBTA, its members book 80% of Britain’s agency-booked scheduled air travel.
