Holland America Line is raising daily gratuities for cruises beginning in May.
From May 1, most passengers will pay a daily service charge of $13.50 per person, up 8% and for suite passengers gratuities are going up 10% to $15.00.
It brings Holland America in line with most other major cruise lines including Royal Caribbean and Norwegian which charge a similar amount.
Those lines and other Carnival Corp brands have all raised gratuities in the last 12 months at rates far exceeding the US inflation rate.
Daily gratuities are automatically charged to the on board account of each passenger but can be amended up or down based on satisfaction levels.
