Heathrow third runway plan scrapped

Plans for a third runway at Heathrow have been abandoned by the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat government.

No new runways at Gatwick or Stansted will be allowed under a joint policy agreement issued by the new government.

Instead the new coalition government will move to establish a high speed rail network.
