Holiday Direct Group buys Holiday Mobiles
The Holiday Direct Group has acquired Holiday Mobiles for an undisclosed sum.
Managing director Cary Lam said the business fits in very well with the changes and future aspirations of the company.
“In the UK mobile users send 1.2 billion texts a week, and that doesn’t change when customers fly abroad,” he said.
“The new service will allow holiday makers the opportunity to make and receive calls cheaper if not for free in over 144 countries and send texts for a fraction of the cost compared to using the their domestic contract mobile.”
Holiday Direct will be promoting the product through travel agents and tour operators in the UK.
It says this will provide agents with an additional form of revenue and will allow them to communicate for free with their user base by texts and multimedia messaging.
The product includes handsets from Nokia, Alcatel and Sagem.
