Hong Kong suspends flights from India
Due to a worrying pace of Covid infections, Hong Kong has suspended international flights from India.
The temporary ban is effective from 20 April through at least 2 May.
HK officials took the step to ban flights after more flights from India arrived with multiple positive cases aboard.
It said 50 passengers on two Vistara flights tested positive for Covid upon arrival, despite all flyers requiring proof of negative Covid tests.
Hong Kong also banned flights from Pakistan and the Philippines due in pat to several recent cases of the N501Y mutant strain in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has imposed temporary flight bans of several Indian and other foreign airlines after passengers were found to be positive after a post-arrival Covid test.
At the weekend India reported its highest-ever single-day total of more than 260,000 Covid cases.
