Hotel chain invests £1.8m on Wi-Fi technology
Best Western Hotels in investing £1.8 million on high speed internet connections at its 312 UK and Channel Island hotels.
The company has pledged to provide the access in all public areas and in 15% of bedrooms by the new year.
Best Western head of IT Mike Goryl said increasing numbers of leisure and business guests are demanding high speed technology.
“They are requesting it as a prerequisite of their stay, with either their room becoming an extension of the office or just wishing to keep in touch with friends and family,” he said. “Installing high speed access is therefore key to remaining at the forefront of technology and providing customer satisfaction.”
Goryl reassured guests that any installation work at the properties, some of which are listed or historic buildings, will be unobtrusive.
“It’s simply a case of period properties coming of age,” he added.
The technology will offer guests the option of either hard wire or Wi-Fi access, or a combination of the two, without the need for cabling.
Future developments such as voice over IP technology and video streaming can also be added.
