Culloden Estate & Spa gets a new wing

Tennis Legends, Bjorn Borg and Pat Cash officially opened the new bedroom wing at the 5-star Culloden Estate & Spa in the Holywood Hills near Belfast, in March, and were amongst the first guests to enjoy the new rooms.

The total investment of £3.5million has added 26 bedrooms (a mixture of bedrooms, suites and duplex suites) bringing the total complement at Culloden to 105. The wing has been constructed on the southern flank of the Culloden with half the bedrooms overlooking the formal gardens and the remainder facing the mouth of Belfast Lough.

The Culloden is home to one of Northern Ireland’s most lavish spas, and in recent years it has created a suite for couples or individuals who wish to enjoy the Culloden’s ESPA Spa treatments together in the comfort of their own room.

There are also a couple of dedicated Spa Suites one of which has been named the ‘Amethyst Suite’, the first of their type in Northern Ireland that have been created as the most luxurious of private spa havens. These are duplex style suites, arranged over two levels, containing two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and are designed for (primarily) “Ladies who Spa”, to appeal to an increasing market of ladies who like to take Spa breaks and who like to travel and stay together.

Marriott International’s Hotel & Country Club Collection in the United Kingdom will add the 116-room Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Surrey, England, to its portfolio in 2010 under a recently concluded franchise agreement with Arena Leisure Park Plc.

Situated on more than 450 acres of rolling Surrey countryside about 25 miles south of central London and seven miles east of London Gatwick Airport, Lingfield Park Racecourse is one of the U.K.’s oldest, busiest horse racing venues.

The Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club will be an integral part of the new racecourse grandstand and will offer views across the racecourse, the hotel’s 18-hole championship golf course and surrounding countryside. In addition to strong hotel demand arising from events held at Lingfield Park, the hotel is expected to benefit from significant corporate demand due to its setting within the “Gatwick Diamond,” a major regional and national economic hub.
