HRG launches MOD service
Hogg Robinson Group has signed up to handle the business travel needs of the British Forces.
The travel management company will offer an online solution to 300,000 Royal Navy, Army and RAF and MOD personnel.
Armed Forced Minister Bob Ainsworth launched Defence Travel this week and says the move should save £35 million annually as travel management moves from being organised by several different units across various methods including paper based processes involving form filling and the production of printed warrants.
Now Defence Travel will allow MOD personnel to compare budget and scheduled carrier fares and rail operator fares and will also provide management information, improving the negotiating position of the forces with travel providers.
Chief executive of Hogg Robinson Group David Radcliffe said: “We are proud to have been involved with the team at the MOD and their partners on this ground-breaking initiative to help them streamline, enhance and optimise their travel practices, the result of which is Defence Travel. For the first time the MOD will have full visibility of how, when and where its personnel travel which will enable it to influence demand and procure the best value-for-money travel services.â€
Sir Ian Andrews, Second Permanent Under-Secretary at the MOD, added: “We are confident that this will provide a better service to users and save significant sums of money, helping to ensure that as much as possible of every pound we spend is directed to the front line where it can really make an impact on achieving our objectives.â€
