Hundreds more flights cancelled amid storms

More than 300 flights were cancelled and at least 1,000 delayed as severe storms battered the Eastern US.

On Monday alone, 1,600 flights were grounded.

Storms had knocked out power for about a million people with two deaths directly caused by the storms.

Homes affected were across 11 different states.

Delta Air Lines said it has 100 flight cancellations today with about 140 delayed.

Flight cancellations were reported in New York LaGuardia, Newark, Boston and Atlanta airports.

The National Weather Service says there could be a tornado strike in or near the greater Washington DC area.

The breadth of the storms was huge, affecting areas as far as East Tennessee.

Yesterday, nearly 30 million people were placed under tornado watch.
