Hurricane Humberto strengthens to Category 3
Hurricane Humberto has strengthened to a large Category 3 storm as it heads dangerously close to Bermuda.
The US National Hurricane Centre said the core of Humberto is expected to pass just to the northwest and north of Bermuda tonight (Wednesday) with maximum sustained winds near 115 mph with higher gusts.
"Some fluctuations in intensity are likely during the next day or so, but Humberto should remain a powerful
hurricane through early Thursday. says its latest update.
It said a steady weakening trend should begin later on Thursday.
A hurricane warning has been issued by the Bermuda Weather Service.
