Hurtigruten expands into Alaska

Tuesday, 03 Dec, 2018 0

Hurtigruten has launched its widest selection of expedition cruises so far in its 2020/21 programme, including the Alaska region.

The programme includes eight- to 18-day expeditions to Alaska on board the brand-new, hybrid-powered MS Roald Amundsen and the inaugural season of the ground-breaking hybrid-powered and eco-friendly MS Fridtjof Nansen, which will explore Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland and the Norwegian coast.

Hurtigruten’s 2020/21 programme also includes the widest-ever selection of Antarctica voyages, ranging from 12-23 days, and an extreme makeover for Hurtigruten’s MS Fram, which will re-emerge as a brand-new expedition ship.

MS Roald Amundsen will conclude its 2020 Alaska season by conducting an epic North West Passage transit, from Nome via Greenland to Halifax.

CEO Daniel Skjeldam said: "Alaska is a perfect fit for Hurtigruten and our expedition cruise concept. We will go where the big ships can’t…far beyond the ordinary while exploring the true beauty of Alaska."

"Along with sister ship MS Roald Amundsen, MS Fridtjof Nansen will define a new era of expedition cruising. Green technology combined with premium comfort, the unique Hurtigruten atmosphere and outstanding culinary experiences, will allow our guests to make the most of their personal adventure," Skjeldam added.

The 2020/2021 expedition cruise programme also includes Russia and Franz Josef Land on board MS Spitsbergen, a wide selection of Svalbard expeditions on multiple ships, warm-water expeditions to the Caribbean, and several South and Central America voyages, including Mexico and Baja California on board MS Roald Amundsen.

Pre- and post-cruise options in unique destinations such as the Easter Island, Galapagos, Patagonia and the Atacama Desert are available.
