Japanese theme park building floating hotel with underwater views

Friday, 22 July 20163 min read
A Japanese theme park which made headlines recently when it opened a hotel almost entirely manned by robots, has again come up with a fresh new hotel innovation.
The Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki prefecture plans to create a movable floating hotel with underwater views.
The hotel will be pulled by tug boat between the theme park and a private island in Omura Bay, situated about 6km away.
It will comprise about 20 guest rooms measuring 35 sqm and each will be contained within a floating sphere.
The theme park operator has successfully tested a prototype of the sphere and plans to begin construction next year.
"We will move the rooms slowly to the island while guests are sleeping so they can have breakfast on the island," president Hideo Sawada said.
