Jet2 boosts Portugal summer capacity
With Portugal securing a green list designation in both England and Scotland, Jet2 is ramping up its programme with more summer flights and holidays to the Algarve and Madeira.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have reported a significant increase in customer demand.
It says summer 2021 bookings to Faro (Algarve) and Funchal (Madeira) increased more than 600% in the 24 hours following the green list announcement, and over 1,300% when compared to the same period week-on-week.
Customers travelling from Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted Airports now have more choice.
Flights include the addition of weekly Saturday services from Birmingham to Faro from 3 to 17 July, meaning daily services in July.
Glasgow weekly Sunday departures have been added from 27June through to 8 August resulting in up to four weekly services to Faro and flights to Faro from Bristol are brought forward to commence on 2 July instead of late August.
To Funchal, there will be up to three weekly services this summer from Manchester and up to two a week from London Stansted from 2 July through to 24 September
"The response to Portugal going on the green list from customers in England and Scotland has been exceptional. In response to that, we are delighted to be giving customers even more choice," said Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.
The company will operate to Faro from all ten of its UK bases this summer, with flights and holidays operating to Madeira from nine UK bases.
It represents over 10,000 additional seats going on sale across the two destinations this summer.
