Jet2 to resume Cyprus programme next week
Jet2 will restart its Cyprus programme next week, with flights to Larnaca on 17 August.
The company has almost 40,000 seats on sale to Larnaca this summer, with flights departing from eight UK bases – Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle.
Paphos will launch the next day, 18 August, with 45,000 seats on sale, from the same eight departure points.
It will be the first time Jet2 has flown to Cyprus since March.
The operator is restarting its programme despite being unable to convince Cypriot government officials to relax entry requirements for UK tourists.
Discussions had taken place at the end of July as the operator tried to lift entry restrictions, which came into effect on 1 August.
From that date, the UK moved from category C, a level which had barred people from entering Cyprus if they have been in the UK in the past 14 days, to category B status, meaning UK citizens will be allowed to enter the country.
But customers booking Cyprus holidays are still required to provide a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival, obtained within 72 hours of travel. And Jet2 said passengers need to regularly check the Foreign and Commonwealth guidance on travelling to Cyprus.
CEO Steve Heapy said: "Looking at the demand it’s very clear just how much our customers are looking forward to their holidays in the Cypriot sunshine."
Savvas Perdios, Deputy Minister of Tourism Cyprus said: "Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is one of our most loyal and trusted partners and we are more than eager to once again, welcome its customers to Cyprus.
"We would like to wish Jet2.com and Jet2holidays every success and extend a warm welcome to all its customers."
