After a successful launch, JetBlue is extending its premium-class Mint product.
Speaking at an earnings call yesterday, JetBlue’s outgoing CEO David Barger said the airline was ‘pleasantly surprised’ with interest for Mint and has spurred demand from other airlines’ customers on transcontinental routes.
By the year-end Mint will be available on seven daily flights between New York JFK and Los Angeles, Barger said .
It will also be rolled out on the JFK-San Francisco route this weekend.
Mint, which offers lie-flat seats, was launched in June on a single daily flight between New York JFK and Los Angeles International.
The strong demand for Mint has prompted JetBlue to revamp its price structure and add an extra top price refundable fare at $1,209.
On operating revenues of $1.5 billion, JetBlue reported third quarter net income of $79 million, up from $71 million in 2013.
