JetBlue trimming UK flight schedules
JetBlue Airways is committed to its August launch of transatlantic flights but will adjust schedules due to the US administration’s continued block on nonessential travel from the UK.
It will initially scale back capacity but will go ahead with its planned 11 August launch.
It will launch daily flights between New York and London but in September will operate only four flights a week on the route.
For now, it still plans to go ahead with its second daily flight from JFK to London Gatwick starting on 29 September.
"We’ve all been very frustrated the corridor hasn’t opened," JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes said.
"There’s no reason not to open it. It’s not data driven."
Due to the uncertainty, the airline said it will adjust the schedules monthly after September to match demand.
As an amber list country, fully-jabbed US travellers will no longer need to quarantine on arrival in the UK from 2 August.
It also applies to travel from the EU.
