Latest airline fee: faster security lines

Sunday, 07 Jul, 2011 0

The airlines never stop with fees. One of the latest: JetBlue sells access to priority security lines.

“Even More Speed” gets travelers into faster security lines at 14 of the airline’s most important airports, including New York’s JFK, Chicago and Los Angeles.

That fee joins the “Even More Space” payment for extra-legroom seats in the front of airline cabins. Prices start at US$10 to a maximum or $65 for longer flights.

Perhaps the most reviled fees are the ones Allegiant and Spirit charge to book through their own websites.

The airlines overall raked in US$5.7 billion in fees last year.

The only option is to buy a ticket at an airport counter which often means a separate trip to the airport.
