Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park
With one of the hottest locations in London, overlooking Hyde Park and about a minute’s walk to Harrods in the exclusive district of Knightsbridge, the Mandarin Oriental brings Asian levels of hospitality to London’s rather brash service industry – and in-room orchids; surely a London first.

Built originally as a gentleman’s club in 1889, the building is ideally suited to its current post-1902 hotel paradigm. Initially the Hyde Park Hotel, Mandarin Oriental re-opened the property in 2000 after a USD 95 million renovation. All rooms here are individually decorated with Victorian pomp and style and either overlook Hyde Park or Knightsbridge. The hotel’s park entrance is reserved for Royal use.

Many know the hotel only for its deluxe Spa, one of the city’s most luxurious and personalised; Michelin-starred signature restaurant Foliage; or place-to-be-seen, contemporary Mandarin Bar, but the attention to detail in the guestrooms are spellbinding and should not be missed; with Irish linen bed sheets, goose-down pillows, and luxury designer bathroom products from Jo Malone. Finally, the traditional afternoon tea at The Park restaurant is legendary, serving exotic teas from around the world with freshly baked scones, Devonshire clotted cream and rose petal jam.
