Man chokes to death while eating in-flight meal
A woman had to sit with the body of her dead boyfriend during a nine-hour flight after he started choking during the in-flight meal.
The man, aged 31, starting to choke while eating his beef dish just 90 minutes into the 11-hour Jetstar flight from Singapore to Auckland.
The coroner is yet to confirm whether he died from choking and his family in New Zealand have told local newspapers he had a pre-existing heart condition.
According to reports, his girlfriend screamed after she noticed his lips turning purple and his eyes rolling.
A doctor and two nurses on board rushed to help and tried to perform CPR, but failed to save him.
The body was removed by crew to a rest area behind a curtain and his girlfriend sat with him for the rest of the flight.
The airline has come under fire for offering just NZ$100 (£52) travel vouchers to passengers seated nearby.
