Spanish hospitality firm Melia Hotels International plans to expand again in Indonesia with a new island beach resort in Lombok.
Melia has revealed details for Melia Lombok Tangkong, set to open in 2018.
It will be one of the first developments on Gili Tangkong, a secluded tropical island just offshore from Sekotong Bay in Southwest Lombok.
Gili Tangkong is located within one hour from both Lombok’s main port and international airport
The hotel will feature 65 one to three bedroom luxury villas and 40 hotel rooms, with some built over the water or with private pools.
A spa, restaurants, a yoga and meditation area, a banquet hall an even a helipad are planned for the resort, in partnership with local hotel developer PT Martel.
Indonesia is one of Melia’s key markets in Asia Pacific an currently operates five hotels in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and neighbouring Bali.
It has an additional nine hotel projects in development.
