Continuing fears over violent crime have done little to deter travelers to Mexico.
Mexico set a new Q1 record for tourism with 10.6 million visitors through March 2018, up 12.6% on last year.
In March alone there were four million arrivals which represented a 14.6% increase on March 2017.
According to Mexico ministry of tourism data cruise traffic also posted double digit growth with 2.6 million cruise visitors during the quarter.
There were 2.9 million US visitors arriving by air and nearly five million via land border points.
Overall tourism spending rose by more than 7% to $6.2 billion although average expenditure per person was slightly down.
Mexico was ranked as the sixth most visited country in the world in 2017, welcoming a total of 39.3 million annual visitors.
