The beach resorts at Acapulco are on alert after a hurricane strengthened off Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Hurricane Raymond has been upgraded to a category three hurricane and there are fears it could hit the same area of Guerrero state devastated by Tropical Storm Manuel last month.
Coastal towns and cities from Acapulco to Lazaro Cardenas in Michoacan are preparing for heavy rains and flash floods.
Authorities in the Mexican state of Michoacan have said all maritime activity and road travel should be avoided.
Japan is also preparing for Typhoon Francisco which is expected to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to the far south from Wednesday.
