Mexico/US agree: more flights

Sunday, 22 Sep, 2005 0

More flights and lower fares.

That’s the likely result of a new aviation service agreement between the US and Mexico.

Under the new agreement, three airlines from each country may fly between any US city and any of 14 Mexican cities.

Previously, only two airlines from each country could operate on each US-Mexico city-pair market.

The agreement adds a new provision for US and Mexican carriers to enter into code-sharing arrangements with carriers from third countries for US-Mexico service.

It also increases from four to ten the number of US and Mexican codes that may be carried in each city pair.

The action updates the US-Mexico agreement last agreed upon in 1999.
