Millions could travel to view the solar eclipse
The American public is really embracing the solar eclipse experience, with potentially millions traveling to view the phenomenon.
The solar eclipse will cast a shadow across America on April 8 for several minutes.
Longwoods International released its latest American Travel Sentiment tracking study and asked respondents about their solar eclipse travel plans.
One out of five (22%) of travelers say they are planning to travel to see the eclipse on April, with 14% of expect to travel greater than 50 miles.
Of those planning to go more than 50 miles, 73% plan to spend at least one night on the road.
Around 43% are planning a short 1-2 night getaway while around 30% plan trips of three nights or longer.
Overall, the survey finds travel sentiment is still around record post-pandemic levels with 93% of American travelers still planning to take a trip in the next six months.
Road trip travel to visit friends and family still leads the way over personal getaways.
