Monarch tops £1m sales through PayPal
Monarch has recorded more than £1 million taken through online sales using PayPal’s secure payments option.
The airline became the first in Europe to offer its customers the option to pay for flights via PayPal when it was introduced in October.
PayPal payments can be used for online flight bookings, to make changes to bookings, to upgrade or add seats, and pay for hold baggage via www.monarch.co.uk.
The service allows people to pay for flights online as well as protecting their transactions and personal information.
PayPal merchant services general manager Cameron McLean said: “Online shopping amongst UK adults has increased by 157% in the last five years with 28 million adults actively transacting on the cyber high street and buying flights has never been easier or more secure.
“We decided to launch with flyMonarch.com first in Europe as they are clearly innovators in the airline industry, who focus on constantly improving their customers’ experience, which matches PayPal’s ethos.”
Monarch scheduled services managing director Liz Savage said: “We are delighted to have reached £1 million-worth of sales so quickly through our association with PayPal.
“We are still the only European airline to offer the PayPal payment option and since launch back in October 2007 sales have grown significantly.”
