Monarch’s former chairman has left
Monarch Group’s high-profile former chairman Sir Roy McNulty quietly left the airline last month, it was revealed yesterday.
Documents filed at Companies House in August reveal Sir Roy, who is also chair of Gatwick Airport, left the Monarch board in August, said the London Evening Standard.
Sir Roy joined the Group in July 2012 as a non-executive director and he was appointed chairman in July 2014.
Monarch said Sir Roy retired as chairman but resumed his former role as a non-executive director when the group was bought by Greybull Capital in November 2014. At that time, one of Greybull’s co-founders, Marc Mehoyas, became chairman.
Monarch Holdings was forced to admit this week that it was seeking a further cash injection following rumours that it was in financial difficulty.
Monarch has not issued a statement about Sir Roy’s departure but it confirmed that he has left the airline.
Monarch and Sir Roy, former chair of the Civil Aviation Authority, claimed his exit after four yeas with the airline was a long-established arrangement.
